Book Character Besties

By Rebecca Reed, CRM Executive

Admit it. You’ve always wanted to be best friends with your favourite book character or thought their best friends would be a perfect for you too. Sure, they may have their flaws but they will always have your back. Here are our favourite potential BFF book characters.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. (Harry Potter Series)

We’re putting it out there now because only complete muggles, wouldn’t want to be best friends with the Wizarding World’s most famous heroes. Harry will be there to defend you *even when he’s probably responsible for getting us all in the situation to begin with) … Ron would make you laugh if you are feeling down, and when you’re stuck with that pesky homework, Hermione will lend a helping hand. for sure

Merry and Pippin (Lord of the Rings)

When we think Lord of the Rings, Samwise would be the obvious choice as a best friend; his loyalty shone through. However, Merry and Pippin are the fun-loving besties we all need in our lives. After riding around in chain-mail and Lothlórien cloaks when they returned to the Shire, they are the best friends we need in a world filled with worry and seriousness.

George Milton (Of Mice and Men)

Yes, part of a very tragic friendship, but George in our opinion is the ultimate best friend. He took Lennie along on jobs and convinced foreman to give them work when many others would have simply left him behind. Lennie was always treated as an equal and George sacrificed his own job security when Lennie royally messed up. Every. Single. Time. Even in the end, when George is protecting Lennie from a far worse fate. We’d love to believe that George got his piece of land and tended those rabbits.

Piglet (Winnie the Pooh)

Winnie the Pooh would be lost without little Piglet by his side. Despite his size, Piglet was there on Winnie the Pooh’s many adventures. He also conquered his fears to save Winnie the Pooh. We all need Piglet as our bestie.

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)

Strong, fearless and just so cool. Katniss Everdeen is the girl we all want to be best friends with and once you’re in her circle, she will protect you fiercely. Want to start a rebellion? Katniss is your go-to woman. That loyalty is just what we’d have in a best friend like her.

Bridget Jones (Bridget Jones’s Diary)

Had a bad day? Pop round Bridget’s flat, drink wine, eat all the naughty food and rant – work, men and just life in general. Before you know it, you will be out dancing together. She is the bestie that’ll always be there to pick you up when you are down.
