Happy Birthday George R.R. Martin | Author Focus

George Raymond Richard Martin was born on the 20th September 1948. He is often referred to as George R.R. Martin and is the American novelist and short story writer in the fantasy, horror and science fiction genres. He is best known for his epic A Song of Ice and Fire series that has been adapted into the critically acclaimed worldwide phenomenon Game of Thrones by HBO. Regular readers of this blog will know that I am a massive fan of The BFG. I read a lot as a child and this became a firm favourite from the moment I read the first chapter. I love all of Roald Dahl’s children’s books, I can’t quite bring myself to read the ‘adult’ stories he’s written.
